April Book Club

Join Command Purpose for our April book club meeting! The goal of our book club is to read books that address issues facing the veteran women community and discuss how we can navigate through them to become our most authentic selves and align with our purpose in life after the military.

Summary: This book is about an Andalusian shepherd boy named Santiago who has a dream and decides to set out on a journey from his homeland of Spain to find the treasure he dreamt about. His treasure is buried near the Pyramids in Egypt so he sets out on a quest to find it. Along the way he meets some interesting characters that all point Santiago in the direction of his treasure. Santiago starts his journey on a quest for worldly goods but discovers his treasure within. This story is a testament to the transforming power of our dreams and listening to our hearts.

Why This Book? “To realize one’s destiny is a person’s only obligation”- The Alchemist

This book explores the idea of a personal legend and how important it is that we stay true to ourselves so we can find it. Too often, there are forces or circumstances that distract us from our personal legend. This book tackles the idea that we are born for a reason and reinforces the idea of staying true to your authentic self.
