Join Command Purpose for our February book club meeting! The goal of our book club is to read books that address issues facing the veteran women community and discuss how we can navigate through them to become our most authentic selves and align with our purpose in life after the military.
Summary: This book is about a professional tennis player, Carrie Soto, who achieves fame as the best player in the world. Six years into her her retirement, she is watching a younger player surpass her record and lifetime achievement. Carrie makes the decision to come out of retirement at age 37 in an attempt to reclaim her record. Carrie Soto returns to the tennis spotlight one last time to try and reclaim her position as the best in the world.
Why This Book? “I am no longer the greatest tennis player in the world. For the first time in my life, I can be…something else.”- Carrie Soto
This book explores being a woman at the top, the sacrifices it requires to become the best, and how a person’s life is affected when the thing that defines them is no longer part of their life. Carrie’s comeback is a story of transformation. This book is a story of personal growth and a must read!
