Join Command Purpose for our July book club meeting! The goal of our book club is to read books that address issues facing the veteran women community and discuss how we can navigate through them to become our most authentic selves and align with our purpose in life after the military.
Summary: Through her research, Angela Duckworth has discovered the two necessary attributes that lead to outstanding achievement; They are a blend of passion and persistence which Angela Duckworth refers to as GRIT. Throughout the book, Angela Duckworth explains to the reader what these attributes are and how we can utilize them to set and achieve our long term goals.
Why This Book? This book is a must read because many of us have been setting goals that lead us to the arrival fallacy. The arrival fallacy, as defined by Arthur Brooks, is the assumption that once we hit a goal or reach a destination, the bliss we get will last. We all have experienced achieving a goal and we feel exhilarated and elated but eventually, that feeling wears off. Through her ideas of passion and persistence, Angela Duckworth can show us how to align ourselves to our strategic goal, what we at the Command Purpose Foundation, call our “Command Purpose”. This book will show us how to reframe goal setting and lead us to our true goals, our “personal legends” , and give us the tools to help us truly realize our dreams.
This event will be held virtually on Zoom. If you have any questions or technical difficulties, please email us at info@commandpurpose.org.
